Relievers are vital players for winning a game. Yet, they are extremely undervalued by fans. When you think of a reliever, you probably consider someone like Josh Hader. You might also consider Ryan Helsley or Seranthony Domínguez. But there are a ton of relievers who are putting on just as good performances that don’t get enough credit. Here are my top five underrated and undervalued relievers from the 2025 season.

5. RHP Clayton Beeter – Washington Nationals
Clayton Beeter, who is known as a strikeout pitcher, was acquired by the Nationals at the deadline for Amed Rosario. Since being traded, Beeter posted a 2.49 ERA in 24 appearances. Beeter had an 11.72 K/9 over 21.2 IP. He racked up 32 strikeouts and limited hitters to a .116 average against him. Beeter only uses two pitches, which are his 4-Seam Fastball and his Slider. During this time, he collected his first career save. This achievement could put him in line for more opportunities, as the Nationals currently don’t have a set closer.

4. RHP Jordan Leasure – Chicago White Sox
Jordan Leasure has become a more than reliable arm for the Chicago White Sox’s young core. Leasure is now 27 years old and had a career year in the big leagues for the White Sox in 2025. Leasure has an xBA of .192 and an xERA of 3.16 in the major leagues this year. Leasure does a very good job with the swings and misses due to his Whiff% being 31.9 and his K% being 30.1 as well this year. Leasure pitched a total of 64.1 IP and struck out 81 hitters in that time frame. Jordan Leasure is an extremely solid reliever who can fit in anyone’s bullpen when given the opportunity.

3. RHP Elvis Alvarado – Las Vegas Athletics
Elvis Alvarado has completed his first big league season with the A’s and had huge success when doing so. Alvarado is a flamethrower on the mound, where he averages 98 MPH on his fastball as of writing this. Elvis had 37 appearances with the A’s this year and managed to post a 3.19 ERA in 42.1 innings of work. He managed to post a 10.63 K/9 during this timeframe, which is pretty decent for the 26-year-old rookie. Elvis Alvarado has a mix of four pitches. It includes a four-seam fastball, a Slider, a Sinker, and a Changeup. His best pitch is clearly his fastball, but his secondaries aren’t awful either.

2. RHP Connor Phillips – Cincinnati Reds
Connor Phillips didn’t really work out as a starter in the MLB, but he’s done amazingly as a reliever. Phillips has a .188 xBA as a full-time reliever. He pitched in 21 different games this season for the Reds. This proved him as a reliable arm for the bullpen. He worked 25.0 IP this season and struck out 32. His fastball is electric as it averages 98.2 MPH, and he complements it with a Sweeper and a Curveball. Connor Phillips has certainly gone under the radar as a sneaky arm inside a major league bullpen.

- LHP Erik Sabrowski – Cleveland Guardians
Erik Sabrowski has shown himself to be among the best relievers in the Guardians’ bullpen. Erik was a 14th-round pick back in 2018. Still, you shouldn’t let that take away from his ability on the mound. Erik has a three-pitch mix that includes a 4-Seam Fastball, a Slider, and a Curveball. Erik posted a 1.84 ERA in 33 games that included him working 29.1 IP and striking out 42. Erik had a K/9 of 12.89 in the big leagues this year, and it’s really thanks to his secondaries. Erik uses his slider 32% of the time against lefties and uses his Curveball 20% of the time against righties. Erik’s success shouldn’t be overlooked, as he managed to shine when the Guardians needed it the most.
