While the US team is scratching and clawing to put away the Dominican Republic, I found myself having to answer a few text messages.

My Friend: Hey. What channel is the US team playing on tonight?

Me: FS1

My Friend: Isn’t that a racecar?

Me: Nope. You’re thinking F1. FS1 is Fox Sports 1.

My Friend: That’s stupid. Why aren’t they showing the game on Fox?

I paused. Why aren’t they showing the semifinal of the WBC on a major network?

Yes, the finals will be shown on Fox. But, Mason Miller’s called third strike to send Team USA to the finals was not shown on Fox; rather, they opted to show Family Guy, The Universal Basic Guys, American Dad!, and Family Guy again.

It’s bad enough to catch some of the pool play games you had to bounce to the Fox App, download Tubi, find FS1 or FS2, and maybe the game will be shown nationally on Fox.

If Major League Baseball wants us, the consumer, to take this tournament seriously, they should take their coverage seriously. Coming off the Winter Olympics, where you could have split channels on YouTube TV to view multiple events at once, instead, the consumer is forced to jump to find coverage, which is as easy to find clean plate in a barbecue festival.

Today, the top-seeded Italian team will take on Venezuela for a chance to play the US in the finals. What channel will that be on? FS1, naturally. Unfortunately, the reality TV game show Extracted and Memory of a Killer can not be bumped for a week, so we will have to find the action on the aforementioned FS1.

For a supposed world event, I can’t help but feel this tournament is being shown on a small scale. Maybe they’ll change for 2029, right?
